Admirals Road was closed early this afternoon for a single vehicle crash of a minivan at Woodway Road near the Naden entrance early this afternoon.

Police are calling it a medical event, noting the driver appeared to suffer a coughing fit and may have lost consciousness, causing the van to veer into the traffic island.

Two people were in the van, and one of them has been transported to hospital for cautionary purposes. The airbag appears to have deployed on impact. The crash saw a lamp standard sheared off, but the wires were still attached.

Vehicles were being rerouted onto Astle Street.
