Why have you decided to take part in the Arrow Lakes Ambassador Program?

I joined because I want to learn proper etiquette. The Ambassador Program gives helpful skills such as speaking to big crowds and walking with grace.

What would you like to get out of this program?

I want to be able to speak confidently. I want to feel and look assertive, and in my opinion, the Ambassadors Program will be the perfect thing to pursue that goal.

How long have you lived in the Nakusp area? Tell us about your family.

I have lived in Nakusp since I was just five months old. What a wonderful place to grow up! My parents names are Dave and Lisa and I have an older sister named Claudia. My dad is in a band called 23 North and he plays guitar. My sister is also part of the band and she is a stunning singer. My mom doesn’t play any instruments, but is our biggest fan.

What are some of your hobbies, interests plans and dreams? What do you plan to do when you graduate from high school?

I love snowboarding, figure skating, golfing, horseback riding, and, of course, playing bass guitar. I own a rescue horse named Phaedra, and after I graduate I would like to get a job that rescues abused animals. I would also like to go to a music school to learn more about playing bass. I am really excited to be playing with my dad and the band this summer at Music In The Park.

Do you have a job? If so, where do you work and what do you do?

I do small jobs to help people around town, such as babysitting, looking after gardens, and dog sitting. I recently handed in my resume at the Nakusp Golf Club. I think it is a good job for me, seeing as one of my interests is golf, and I’ve been a member of the club for years.

Have you travelled anywhere? If so, where did you go? If not, where would you like to go?

I recently got back from a trip to Japan with a small group of students and it was incredible. I will definitely return one day. I want to travel the world and experience new languages, culture, and exotic foods. It is one of my life goals.

Last but not least, give your thoughts on living in the Arrow Lakes.

I am incredibly blessed to grow up on the Arrow Lakes. I love everything about it, with our scenery, hiking trails, our lakes, and of course one of our main tourist attractions, the hot springs. There is something for everyone. Our community is friendly and giving, and I am proud to call it my home.

Why have you decided to take part in the Arrow Lakes Ambassador Program?

I initially decided to take part in the Arrow Lakes Ambassador Program because some of my friends felt strongly about the program, and they needed five girls to run. Once I had learned more about the program I realized that it would probably be very fun and a great experience.

What would you like to get out of this program?

Upon completing the Ambassador Program I’m hoping to become better at public speaking, increase my confidence, learn to walk in heels, and solidify my already great friendships.

How long have you lived in the Nakusp area? Tell us about your family.

I have lived in Nakusp for eight years. My family moved here when I was about to enter Grade 3, from Red Deer, Alberta. My mom’s name is Jackie, my dad’s name is Cory, and I have a ten year old sister named Dharia and a dog named Banjo.

What are some of your hobbies, interests plans and dreams? What do you plan to do when you graduate from high school?

Most of my free time is spent playing sports. I play volleyball, basketball, and soccer. I enjoy swimming and biking in the summer, and you can often find me hanging out with my friends. When I graduate high school I plan on furthering my education to become an emergency room doctor.

Do you have a job? If so, where do you work and what do you do?

I currently work at What’s Brewing on Broadway as a barista. I started working there when I was 13. I work in customer service and also prepare coffees, run the till, handle the food, and do some cleaning.

Have you travelled anywhere? If so, where did you go? If not, where would you like to go?

When I was 12, we went to California and went to Disneyland. When I was 13, my mom, sister and grandma travelled with me to Oregon to visit my uncle. We went to Portland and Nanaimo. When I graduate university, I would like to enter into the Doctors Without Borders program. From there, I would like to travel to countries to help those who cannot afford medical care.

Last but not least, give your thoughts on living in the Arrow Lakes.

Living on the Arrow Lakes is a paradise. In my opinion, Nakusp has it all, except McDonald’s. We’re surrounded by mountains and the beautiful Lake.
