Mercedes SUV shears power pole in half in Langley

Neighbourhood without power on Saturday night but driver of SUV not injured in single-vehicle crash. Cause unknown at this time.

A neighbourhood in Langley was without power on Saturday night after an SUV took out five pine trees and sheared a power pole in half at 200 Street and 48 Avenue.

According to Langley RCMP, the single vehicle crash took place around 8:30 p.m. when the Mercedes SUV, that had dealer plates, took out the power pole.

BC Hydro quickly arrived and replaced the pole. Power came on early the next morning.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital but released a short time after with no injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation but a violation ticket is being considered. The vehicle was not reported stolen.

The night before a Toyota Tacoma drove into a house at 200 Street and 38 Avenue. A family of five, including three young children were inside, but weren’t injured. The home has significant damage.

That driver may have suffered a medical issue but is fine now.
