Metchosin medal winner has stolen honour returned

Medal was presented to him by Queen Elizabeth in 1994

David Richardson is a happy man today, after members of the Regional Crime Unit returned a medal presented to him by Queen Elizabeth in 1994.

Richardson, whose home on Kangaroo Road in Metchosin was burglarized in March, discovered later that the medal, investing him as a Lieutenant of the Royal Victoria Order, had been stolen.

Unit Staff Sgt. Steve Morgan couldn’t say much about how the medal was recovered, as it relates to a couple of ongoing investigations, but officers knew of the sentimental value of the item to Richardson.

“It was one of those things we wanted to get back (to its owner) right away,” Morgan said.
