The numbers are almost in, and the 25th Midsummer’s Eve of the Arts has raised some $32,000 for the Vernon Public Art Gallery.

“It’s probably down a little bit from previous years,” said Dauna Grant, executive director of the art gallery.

“We expected that though. We’ve been watching other art fundraisers in the area and they’ve all been a bit low this year, so we figured we’d be down as well.”

The annual art auction and fundraiser was held at Cenotaph Park in downtown Vernon on Wednesday evening instead of the traditional Caetani Cultural Centre.

The board has not yet made a decision as to whether that will be a permanent change or not said Grant.

Despite a slightly lower revenue this year the art gallery is still very pleased with the way the event turned out, and with all the support they received.

“I can’t thank our supporters enough,” said Grant.

“Without our volunteers, artists, sponsors and my terrific gallery staff, this event couldn’t happen.”
