The future of the Mills in Quesnel is not bright.

The Mills haven’t left town yet, but the vans are packed are ready to go.

The owners of the Quesnel Millionaires are discussing  relocate the team to Chilliwack, part owner of the Mills, Kit Collins said.

“But all options are still open,” she added.

The other option is an offer to purchase the Mills and possibly keep them in Quesnel for at least a year if the team could not be moved to another city.

“Unfortunately, it is evident no one wants to run it [the Mills team] in Quesnel,” Collins said.

An announcement, Collins said, would be made this Friday, April 29.

Given the current financial situation of the Mills in Quesnel, Collins said a move to Chilliwack would be a win-win for all involved, not just the current owners.

“It would be best for the players,” Collins said of a move to Chilliwack that would see the Mills move into Prospera Centre, with two NHL-sized rinks and the main sheet of ice has seating for almost 5,000.

The potential move to Chilliwack was made possible by the recent sale and relocation of the Western Hockey League Chilliwack Bruins to Victoria.
