Missing Nanaimo man found dead in woods at Westwood Lake

RCMP and Nanaimo Search and Rescue had been looking for 65-year-old Lionel Cayer

The Nanaimo RCMP has confirmed 65-year-old Lionel Cayer, reported missing since Sunday, has been found deceased.

The report comes following a seach by Nanaimo Search and Rescue and RCMP that was launched Wednesday after Cayer’s vehicle was found at Westwood Lake Park at about 2:30 p.m.

According to police, Cayer’s body was located in a wooded area not far from where his vehicle was parked. Foul play is not suspected.

The B.C. Coroners Service was advised, attended and is investigating. Police say no further information will be released.
