A three-year-old Union Bay boy who went missing overnight Sunday has been found.

RCMP Island District spokeswoman Cpl. Tammy Douglas confirmed Lochlan McKenzie, who also answers to the names ‘Lochie,’ “was found safe and sound.”

McKenzie was last seen Sunday around 8 p.m. at the end of Green Avenue in Union Bay. He was playing on his bicycle with his brother when he went missing, noted Comox Valley RCMP spokesman Const. Rob Gardner.

Sixty-five members of search and rescue teams from the Comox Valley, Nanaimo, Campbell River, Ladysmith and beyond searched for the boy with headquarters at the Union Bay Hall.

Gardner noted teams worked throughout the night, and police utilized their unmanned aerial vehicle, police dog services, air services (helicopter) and regular members to help with patrols.
