PARKSVILLE — A woman who vanished from Qualicum Beach on Christmas Day may have gone to Ontario, say police.

Sharon Gayle Dawson, 61, was listed as a missing person after she left her home on Dec. 25, 2010. While she was reportedly seen at the World Parrot Refuge three days later, there has since been no sign of the woman. However, RCMP are surmising she may have gone to the Port Perry area of Ontario, where they believe she has ties.

Dawson has not been in contact with any family members since she left and police say bank records show she has not attempted to access cash. The RCMP is treating her disappearance as a missing person and do not suspect any foul play is involved.

Dawson, who reportedly has family across Canada, lived in Port Perry in the past, as well as in the Woodstock area.
