Mission Adopt-A-Block signs stolen

A thief has made off with a few signs that were recently installed

Some signs celebrating the accomplishments of volunteers who regularly pick up litter have been stolen.

About two weeks ago, Mission Adopt-A-Block Society coordinator Kristin Parsons was driving down the Cedar Valley Connector and noticed one of the recently installed metal placards was missing.

The sign purchase and installation was done through donated funds and efforts, and were used to denote which group, business or individual was responsible for keeping certain areas litter-free.

There are now a total of three missing across the district, said Parsons, along with the mounting brackets. Additionally, someone has been removing labels which indicate where new signs were to be erected. About half of these are now gone.

“We’re very disappointed,” said Parsons. “They’re stealing from our volunteers.”

There is no scrap metal value to the signs, and the RCMP have started a file, she added.
