A district-wide fire ban is in effect beginning June 1, 2015.
Mission fire chief Larry Watkinson has implemented the District-wide ban following recent hot, dry weather, compounding the risk related to the very low snowpack as we enter the summer months.
Watkinson has the authority to place a ban on all burning within the boundaries of the District of Mission, through local burning bylaw 2975-1996.
Additionally, a provincial burning ban may be issued by the Ministry of Forests and will apply within BC Parks and to all public (Crown) and private land outside of organized areas.
This means no burning is allowed including within registered in-ground or portable pits.
