Mission is establishing three official cooling centres open to all citizens when temperatures reach 30 degrees Celsius or higher.

Those locations are:

The Mission Leisure Centre, 7650 Grand Street;

Mission Friendship Centre, 33105a 1st Avenue;

Mission Library, 33247 2nd Avenue.

Each location is committed to providing a welcoming air conditioned space where people can escape the heat, access cool water and sit down and rest if needed.

Additionally, outreach walkabouts during the month of August will focus on the topic of hydration, hand out water bottles and share with those they come across where the cooling centres are located.
