Mission firefighters respond to house fire on Ferndale Avenue

Emergency scanners reported flames shooting out of bedroom window

Mission firefighters responded to reports of a house fire on the 34000 block of Ferndale Avenue this morning (Oct. 29).

Emergency scanners reported flames shooting out of the bedroom window, but the flames had been extinguished before the responding crews had hooked up their hoses up to the fire hydrant across the street.

A neighbour who lives across the street said that he saw smoke rising from the top of the house, and he initially thought it was a chimney fire.

Approximately five vehicles from the Mission Fire Rescue Service attended the scene, and Ferndale Avenue was blocked.

Fire investigators are now looking into the cause of the fire.
