The 29th annual Mission Folk Music Festival is set for July 22-24 at Fraser River Heritage Park.
Organizers are describing this year’s event as a smaller, more intimate festival that can be enjoyed by any age.
“We are really focusing on making the festival family-friendly,” said Michelle Demers Shaevitz, general manager of the event. “In doing that, we are bringing back a children’s area which will feature activities, music and movement that appeals to children of all ages.”
She said they are providing opportunities for families to participate together, including square dancing for all ages and abilities. They have also made it more affordable for families to attend with a “pay what you can” admission on Friday and Sunday. Kids 12 and under are free.
“We just want to make this part of a family summer.”
The festival also features some great musical talent. The 2016 line up includes Canadian icon Shari Ulrich with her daughter Julia Graff, blues legend Jimmy D. Lane, Lion Bear Fox, the gospel of The Sojourners and the west coast Cuban sound of La Candela. For tickets and information visit missionfolkmusicfestival.ca.
