Two people have been arrested and charged with several offences, including break-and-enter and theft of a vehicle, after a series of quick calls to the Mission RCMP.
On April 23, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Mission RCMP received a complaint reporting a suspicious pickup truck.
According to the caller, a person was seen going onto a property in the 35000 block of Sward Road in Mission and then departing in a truck.
Shortly after, another complaint was received that a pickup truck had been stolen overnight from another property, also in the 35000 block of Sward Road.
That residence had been broken into the day before, and a number of items were stolen, including a spare set of keys for the truck.
While investigating the report of the stolen pickup, police received a third complaint, this time of a break-and-enter in progress in the area of 11200 Stave Lake Road.
Mission RCMP officers who attended came across the stolen pickup in a driveway.
A man was seen running from the residence and was arrested by officers, as was a woman who was sitting in the truck.
As a result of the arrests, police located several items that had been reported stolen. A search warrant was also executed, locating more stolen property from all three locations.
An RCMP spokesperson said because residents immediately reported the suspicious activities in their neighbourhood, police were able to respond in a timely manner.
Matthew Brodland and Amanda Becenko, both in their 30s, have now been charged with two counts each of break-and-enter, one count of theft of a motor vehicle, one count of possession of stolen property over $5,000 and one count possession of stolen property under $5,000.
Both have been released on bail with conditions that include a curfew and not having contact with each other, pending their next court appearance.
