Ron Poole has been named as Mission’s new chief administrative officer.

Poole, who is currently serving as CAO for the District of Kitimat, will begin his new post on June 11.

“Ron Poole’s experience and expertise are perfectly aligned with many of our major projects and initiatives,” said Mission Mayor Randy Hawes. “His experience working with the province, federal government, and local First Nations in northern B.C. will be invaluable here in Mission as we move our community forward.”

Poole has a proven track record of exemplary leadership in local government. He will be awarded the 2015 Lieutenant Governor’s silver medal for excellence in public administration next month in recognition of his achievements and leadership in public administration.

Previously, Poole worked as CAO in Terrance and has held posts in Chetwynd as an administrator and director of leisure services and recreation.

Poole and his family will be moving to Mission.

“Mission provides the perfect mix of urban/rural living with a multitude of opportunities for my wife and I to enjoy,” said Poole. “We look forward to being part of the community and participating in all it has to offer.”

Poole takes over the district’s top post from retired administrator Glen Robertson, who returned to the job temporary after Mission council ended  its contract with former CAO Ken Bjorgaard in February.
