The District of Mission has issued a notice to remind people there will be no curbside collection of garbage, recyclables and compost on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day.
Residents’ curbside collection day will skip ahead by two days after Christmas and one day after New Year’s.
The 2018 curbside collection calendar should be delivered to homes before Dec. 23. An online version is already accessible at mission.cacollectioncalendar.
Residents in the curbside collection area may set out twice the regular garbage limit on their collection day following the holidays. Additional garbage after Christmas and New Year’s may be set out in bags, rather than bins, but must only be set out between 5 and 8 a.m. on the day of collection.
Christmas trees may be set out on any regular curbside collection day, if they are cut in half and devoid of all decorations, lights, fake snow and tinsel. Alternatively, the Mission landfill will accept one tree per household free of charge for chipping and composting anytime.
Both the Mission landfill and the Mission Recycling Depot will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day and will be closing at 3 p.m. on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
