To celebrate Mother’s Day, the Friends of Fintry are organizing the annual Fintry Spring Fair Sunday with activities for everyone in the family.

The fair is an annual fund-raising event held to help support the organization’s efforts to maintain and restore the historic buildings in the Westside Road provincial park and to restore the Manor House with items from its heyday, the early 1900s.

FOF vice-president Michael Recknell said there will be a display of fire fighting equipment as well as antique cars brought out by local car clubs.

Local musicians will play from the verandah of the Manor House and there will be a variety of booths showcasing plants, gardening information and arts and crafts.

Youngsters will be invited to play organized games on the front lawn of the Manor House and a barbecue, with celebrity chef, Lake Country Mayor James Baker, will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m.

The fair will open at 10 a.m. and continue to 4 p.m., with admission by donation.

Tours of both the Manor House and the octagonal dairy barn will be by donation as well.

This is one of three events the FOF plan to hold this year to help raise funds to continue with restoration work. Next will be the Fintry Summer Fair, celebrating B.C. Parks Day July 14, then the Fintry Fall Fair, with a trunk and tailgate sale Sept. 15.

The FOF annual general meeting is June 15 at 10 a.m. in the Manor House, and all members are welcome to attend.
