Monashee Mews phase two proposed

Plans are underway for phase two at Lumby's Monashee Mews, which would provide 26 assisted living units

Lumby’s complex care facility could be growing.

Plans are underway for phase two at Monashee Mews, which would provide 26 assisted living units.

“In the spring it is our intention to once again hold a public forum in Lumby where the design concept (including floor plans and suite layouts) will be presented to the public,” said Jenavive Holmes, InSite Communications Coordinator.

“Based on the response received from the public at the time of this public meeting, inSite will decide if the project will proceed.”

The assisted living complex would be attached to the 46-bed Monashee Mews.

Lumby Mayor Kevin Action is eager to see the project move ahead.

“Then we’ll have it all,” said Acton. “We’ll have assisted living, independent living and complex care.”

A design concept has been completed by inSite which features self-contained apartments for seniors and common amenity spaces including dining and lounge areas to be shared amongst all residents – existing and future.

It’s anticipated the public forum will take place in April, where information concerning the proposed service package and pricing will be available.

“The project will only proceed if there are enough seniors in the area interested in residency at Monashee Mews,” said Holmes.
