Golden and the surrounding area has had 60 cases of COVID-19 reported since the start of the pandemic, according to recently updated data from the BC CDC.
Only two of those case came in February. It’s a sharp decline from January, when the area saw 26 cases in one month alone, which accounts for nearly half of all reported cases in the area.
This puts Golden in the rate of 500.1-1000 cases per population of 100,000, the third lowest tier for rates of infection in the province.
It’s on par with Fernie, which had a cluster declared in late January, lasting for nearly a month before being declared over on Feb. 20. A total 97 case were linked to the cluster, of Fernie’s total of 155.
Revelstoke has seen 211 cases of COVID-19 to date.
The data was released on March 3 and accounts for all cases from Jan. 1, 2020 through Feb. 28 of this year.
