On June 5th, just before midnight an officer observed a vehicle perform an illegal U-turn as he departed a local pub. The officer stopped the vehicle and after dealing with the driver read the breath demand. The driver refused to supply a sample. The officer exercised considerable patience and explained several times the consequences of not providing a sample. The driver still refused, his driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for 30 days.
On June 6th, around 6:30 pm a Traffic Services officer was working in Kimberley when he spotted a driver in Marysville without his seat belt on. The vehicle was stopped and the officer noted signs of alcohol consumption. He read the breath demand and a Warn sample was obtained. The driver was prohibited from driving for three days; he was also given a violation ticket for Failing to Wear a Seat Belt.
On June 6th, around 7:30 pm, an officer stopped a vehicle and while speaking to the driver noted an odour of alcohol. A breath demand was made and based on the results the driver was issued a 24-hour driving suspension.
RCMP reminder drivers it’s a lot easier to arrange a ride home than deal than face impaired driving sanctions.
