More than 2,500 cases of beer stolen from Delta business

Police are looking for witnesses after someone drove off with a trailer full of Coors Light

Delta Police are investigating after a truck load of beer was stolen on Annacis Island over the weekend.

In what sounds like the set up for a Burt Reynolds movie, someone made off with more than 2,500 case of Coors Light beer after the trailer containing the beer was stolen from a property on the 600-block of Aldford Avenue at around 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20.

“Surveillance footage shows a red semi-truck enter the lot and hook up to the trailer containing the beer,” Delta police public affairs coordinator Cris Leykauf said in a press release. “Based on the company’s GPS tracking systems, we know the trailer was then driven to the 8000-block of Blundell Road in Richmond approximately half an hour later.”

According to the press release, the trailer was discovered empty in Richmond the afternoon Jan. 21, at which time the theft was reported to police. The 2,592 missing cases of beer are valued at approximately $155,000.

“This is definitely an unusual theft,” Leykauf said. “We’re asking that anyone who may have seen some noteworthy activity, or perhaps is aware of some odd circumstances around the sale of beer, to contact Delta Police at 604-946-4411.”
