A pedestrian was taken to hospital after being struck by a vehicle which ultimately fled the scene late Saturday night.
On April 2 at 11:21 p.m., the Kelowna RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian hit and run in the private laneway of 8945 Highway 97 North on the border or Lake Country and Kelowna. Police have been told that a 35-year-old Lake Country man was attempting to confront the driver of a vehicle driving erratically in the laneway. The man, who attempted to wave the driver of the vehicle down, was struck by the vehicle and subsequently flung to the ground before fleeing the area.
Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the suspect vehicle which has been described as white newer model SUV, possibly a Nissan or Mazda.
The pedestrian was transported to hospital for assessment and treatment of what police describe as non-life threatening injuries.
“RCMP would like to remind the public to ensure their personal safety,” said Const. Jesse O’Donaghey. “Report any aggressive and dangerous driving behaviours to police.”
