Mounties looking for Kelowna jewelry store robbers

Investigators are looking for two men after a jewellery store was robbed Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators are looking for two men after a jewelry store was robbed Tuesday afternoon.

On Aug. 25 at 5:07 p.m. the Kelowna RCMP responded to a report of a robbery at a jewellery store located in the 1200 block of Cannery Lane.

“Two men entered the store, locked the door behind them, brandished a weapon and stated ‘we are taking all your gold,'” said Cpl. Joe Duncan in a press release.

“(He) took the store employee to the rear of the store while (a second) suspect loaded a black back pack with merchandise.”

The men then fled out the front door, through a parking lot and split up.The first suspect was subsequently tackled by four concerned citizens but the culprit got away and ran off. The second man was last seen getting into a blue/grey SUV and driving off east on Cawston Avenue.

The back pack was returned to the store employee.

The first suspect  is described as:

45 years old

Scruffy face

Thin build

6’1 (185 cm)

Dark blue hoodie

Darker “SWAT” baseball hat

The second suspect is described as:

40 years old

Darker complexion

Larger build

Blue coveralls

Bright orange safety vest

Police made extensive patrols in the area however the suspected miscreants were not located.
