A moving truck collided with two other vehicles and knocked down a lamp post near Nanaimo Airport this afternoon.

The incident happened about 4:40 p.m. Tuesday in Cassidy on the Trans-Canada Highway near Spitfire Way. Emergency crews said the truck had a brake failure and collided with two vehicles and the lamp standard before managing to come to a stop off the side of the highway.

The lamp post toppled through a fence into an RV sales business but did not hit any of the vehicles parked on that property.

“It just scared the people that were looking at the RV,” said Ron Gueulette, Cranberry fire chief.

Only minor injuries were reported and traffic wasn’t impacted.
