Mt. Begbie named Brewery of the Year at Canadian Brewing Awards

Mt. Begbie Brewing picks up two gold, one bronze, and Brewery of the Year titles

Revelstoke’s Mt. Begbie Brewing Co. was named the Brewery of the Year at the 2017 Canadian Brewery Awards in Ottawa on Saturday.

“Brewery of the Year blew our minds,” said Darryn Shewchuk, the brewery’s marketing manager.

The brewery posted the news to its Instagram and Facebook pages. It took home four awards, including two gold, one bronze and the big award.

High Country Kolsch won the gold medal for Best German Kolsch, Begbie Cream Ale won gold for Best Cream Ale, Brave Liver Scotch Ale won a bronze award for Best Scotch Ale.

James Bell, the head brewer, was the only person from the company in attendance, while the rest of the team watched the livestream of the awards at owner Bart & Tracy Larson’s home. A huge cheer went up when they found out they won.
