Several people were seriously injured in three separate ATV collisions in the Alexis Creek area over the last few weeks — one may never walk again.

There were no major injuries in the first incident, which took place on Monday, Aug. 15.

The Alexis Creek Emergency Health Services reported to the RCMP that three people in a side-by-side quad were in an accident on the Alexis Lake Road.

The ATV driver had apparently lost control and the occupants were upset from the vehicle but not thrown.

The three people were from Alberta and sustained minor injuries. Two Alexis Creek residents assisted EHS and the injured.

The second incident, on Aug. 26, occurred shortly before 7 p.m.

EHS was called, as an ATV had flipped while travelling on Tin Can Road at the Anaham Meadow at the Anaham reserve.

The Alexis Creek RCMP attended and found the driver standing beside his overturned Arctic Cat 650 quad about 5.9 km from Highway 20. The RCMP found the passenger wandering in the area in shock. The top of his head was bleeding, and his arms were broken. Police say it was apparent his left arm had a compound fracture in the bicep area, as he was bleeding from the inner side of his arm.

An ambulance transported him to Cariboo Memorial Hospital. Police say alcohol was involved.

In the third incident, on Sept. 1 at about 5 p.m., B.C. Ambulance and the Alexis Creek RCMP attended an ATV rollover on the Anaham reserve.

A male was found in a field with an ATV on top of him.

He was conscious and, at the time, the injuries were not fully known. However, it appeared the injuries were serious but not life threatening. B.C. Ambulance transported the male to CMH.

The male driver’s back was broken in two places and he may possibly be a paraplegic, though police note that hasn’t been officially confirmed.
