100 Mile House RCMP responded to 94 complaints and calls for service during the past week. Some highlights are as follows:
Roadside driving prohibition
On Sept. 10, 100 Mile RCMP stopped a vehicle at the Interlakes Corner parking lot near Sheridan Lake. The female driver of the vehicle displayed symptoms of liquor consumption. An approved screening device was administered at the scene. The result was a fail. A second test was requested and the result was also a fail. The female was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition and her vehicle was towed and impounded for 30 days.
Thefts
Sometime overnight of Sept. 3, unknown culprits damaged and completed thefts from a number of pieces of logging equipment which were being operated on Barrick Road at the 10-km mark of Wilcox Road north of Forest Grove. The damage includes oil lines, radiator hoses, and air intake lines being cut and computer components being stolen. The amount of loss in equipment is estimated to be $12,000. The investigation into this incident is continuing. Anyone having knowledge about this incident is asked to call the 100 Mile House RCMP or call Crime Stoppers.
Excessive speeding
Cariboo-Chilcotin Traffic Services stopped a vehicle for being operated at 48 km/h over the posted speed limit. The driver received a violation ticket for excessive speed and his vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.
Crime Stoppers tips of the week
Break-in
Sometime between Sept. 7 and 10, the Creekside Senior’s Center in 100 Mile House was broken into. Nothing was believed to have been taken from this break-in.
Mailboxes vandalized
Sometime between Sept. 7 and 10, a number of rural mailboxes were vandalized at Highway 24 and Shertenlib Road location near Roe Lake. It is not known if any mail was stolen.
Tools stolen
Sometime between Sept. 7 and 9, a storage locker was broken into in the 100 Mile House industrial area and a number of tools were stolen. The amount of loss is not known at this time.
Chainsaw stolen
Sometime between Aug. 31 and Sept. 4, a Stihl brand chainsaw was stolen from a vehicle parked in the 300 block of Highway 97 in 100 Mile House. The amount of loss is estimated to be $550.00.
Tools and sporting equipment theft
Sometime between Aug. 26 and 30, a business in the Exeter Road area of 100 Mile House was broken into and tools and sporting equipment were stolen. The amount of loss is estimated to be $500.
