Mushroom pickers found safe and sound

Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 141 calls from Sept 20, 8 AM till Sept 24, 8 AM. Eight were for false alarms/911 calls.

Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 141 calls for service from September 20, 8 AM till September 24, 8 AM. Of these calls 8 were for false alarms/911 calls.

During the same time period there were 28 people lodged in Terrace cells. 13 of these were for public intoxication.

Here are some of the calls police responded to:

  • A fire extinguisher was discharged in a grey 2007 Ford F 150 truck parked on Davis Ave during the night of September 19/20.
  • Two men ages 23 and 24 stole food from Safeway. The store owner knew the men and banned them from the store.
  • Theft from an unlocked white 2009 Dodge truck parked on Pine Ave. A cell phone and its charger, change, and a bank card were stolen.
  • A men’s Triumph 21 speed mountain bike was stolen from McDonald’s on September 20 at 1 PM. It was not locked and left for only an hour.
  • A local business reported that the condition of a client’s tires on a green Saturn car were so bad they were concerned for the occupant’s safety while driving the car. Checks were done.
  • Information was received that a man regularly steals from Walmart and uses his two year old son as part of his method. Police have liaised with the Loss Prevention Officer of Walmart.
  • A limited edition white Sony PS3 was lost in the downtown area of Terrace.
  • A 34 yr old man was seen breaching his probation conditions at Shoppers Drug Mart. Under investigation.
  • A red soft sided lunch kit with three computer memory sticks was lost.
  • Sexual assault investigation.
  • A blue 2009 Giant Boulder 18 speed bike was stolen from a locked fenced area at Mr Mikes on September 20.
  • A black BMX with red rims and white wall tires was stolen from a parking lot on Hwy 16 east. Police spoke with two boys ages 14 and 16 yrs of age who stole the bike and stripped it for parts. The bike was recovered from a shop in behind a residence on Hemlock St. It was restored to its original condition.
  • People drinking alcohol in a green 1993 Chevrolet pickup in the Walmart parking lot. Police spoke with two men ages 37 and 37 who were drinking beer in the vehicle.
  • Loss Prevention Officer of Walmart arrested a 20 yr old woman for shoplifting. Police attended and arrested the woman for same. She was released on conditions to not attend Walmart. Under investigation.
  • Domestic dispute. Police spoke with the people involved. A 45 yr old man was arrested for assault. All the people involved were intoxicated. Under investigation.
  • Intoxicated people fighting at a party on Straume Ave. Two men ages 25 and 23 suffered minor injuries. A 34 yr old man was arrested for assault. Under investigation.
  • Theft from a grey 1997 Ford truck parked at the Northern Motor Inn during the night of Sept 20/21. Thieves gained access thru a piece of cardboard that was serving as a window. A black backpack and a baby blue Tahltan jacket with lettering with our own blood on it was stolen.
  • Police assisted the Mills Memorial Hospital with the apprehension of a 58 yr old man who failed to return to the hospital.
  • Bad drivers at Kalum St / Straume Ave. Ongoing issue.
  • Theft of an unsecured bike at the George Little House on September 21 at 5 PM. The owner went inside for 5 minutes and when he came out it was gone. It is a grey Swinn mountain bike with Kal Tire stickers on it and a hitch on the back.
  • A grey 2003 Honda Element hit a moose on Hwy 16 near Shames Mountain road. The vehicle was towed. BC Ambulance transported the driver and two passengers to Mills Memorial Hospital for assessment. The moose was not located.
  • Under age youth drinking at a party on Hwy 16 east in a barn. Police attended and told the owner to shut the party down. A 17 yr old boy attempted to run from police when he was being questioned. Police arrested the boy for obstruction. The boy continued to try to escape by running back into the residence and dragged the police officer, causing the police officer’s head to smash into the door frame. The officer was uninjured.
  • Police checked a white Chevrolet Tahoe observed to be leaving the Spirit Night Club. Police detected the odor of marihuana and arrested the 34 yr old passenger and the 50 yr old driver. An amount of marihuana and crack cocaine was seized from the vehicle.
  • Fight outside of Mr Mike’s. It started over a stolen bike. A 19 yr old man was hit in the head by a 22 yr old man.
  • A woman reported that she was pushed by her husband and would not provide further details. Police attended to various locations in town but could not find the woman. The woman called again but refused to meet with police nor provide further details.
  • Police observed a black 1996 Ford Mustang known to belong to a prohibited driver on Kalum St. The vehicle was checked. The 23 yr old driver was issued an appearance notice for driving while prohibited. The vehicle he was driving was impounded for 7 days. An amount of marihuana was also seized from the vehicle.
  • A large white dog attacked a man running in Gitaus. The man had to kick the dog to get it away from him. When he confronted the owner of the dog she was not cooperative. Police spoke with the owner of the dog.
  • Intoxicated people at Red Sands caused damage to the road. There was also broken liquor bottles and garbage everywhere. Police attended and spoke with the people involved.
  • Collision between a 17 yr old girl on a bike and a green Dodge truck on Keith Ave. The cyclist was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital for assessment.
  • Ongoing graffiti issues at the Dudley Little Bridge on Hwy 16. The cost of dealing with the graffiti is about $1000 a year.
  • Domestic dispute. A woman was beaten up by her husband. Police located the woman. She walked away and refused to cooperate with police.
  • A dog by the name of Nibbles was stolen. The owner of the dog was not concerned. Nibbles always seems to be returned to him.
  • A intoxicated man and his friend were no longer wanted at a room at the Bear Country Inn. Police located the two men leaving. Both of the men started to yell profanities at the members. A 37 yr old man was on conditions to not consume alcohol and arrested for breach. The other 37 yr old man was arrested for causing a disturbance. Charges of breach are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
  • A 23 yr old man did a dine and dash at Denny’s. Under investigation.
  • Police apprehended a 54 yr old man under the Mental Health Act and transported him to Mills Memorial Hospital.
  • A man was walking over the old bridge down the center waving his arms and not getting out of the way of traffic. Police arrested the 22 yr old man for breaching his recognizance twice by consuming alcohol and by being outside of his residence past his curfew. The man had been released on the recognizance less than 72 hrs previous. Police held the man for court.
  • A 5 speed brown bike with a parcel carrier on it was stolen from a residence on Muller Ave on September 23.
  • A grey 2013 Ford Fusion was victim of a hit and run while parked in the Best Western parking lot. From video surveillance police were able to determine that a brown 2012 Ford F 150 truck was responsible. Police were then able to determine that the driver was a 51 yr old woman from Kelowna.
  • Two vehicle collision on Hwy 37. A white 1982 Chevrolet driven by a 67 yr old man had slowed to make a left hand turn into Gruchy’s Beach. A blue 2012 Chevrolet Cruz driven by a 44 yr old man pulled out to pass the vehicle on the left as the other vehicle turned left. No injuries.
  • A group of four men causing problems in front of the Chances Casino. Police arrested a 37 yr old man for breach by being outside of his residence while intoxicated. He is held for court.
  • Two mushroom pickers ages 40 and 46 yrs of age were reported missing on September 23. Terrace Search and Rescue attended and a search was initiated out of the Onion Lake ski trails. Police located the pair while conducting patrols in the area. They were in good condition.
  • The window of Totem Furniture was broken on September 23 at 11 PM.
