Nanaimo-Ladysmith Public Schools has announced the hiring of a secretary-treasurer.
In a press release, superintendent Scott Saywell said Mark Walsh has been appointed secretary-treasurer, effective Wednesday, April 15. Walsh has previous experience in education, serving as secretary-treasurer of Greater Victoria School District from 2016-19 and manager of labour relations and legal services between 2012 and 2015.
Walsh is currently a lawyer with Pulver, Crawford, Munroe LLP in Victoria and holds a Juris Doctor law degree from the University of Victoria.
In the press release, school district officials said Walsh’s credentials will be beneficial.
“The district is fortunate to be welcoming someone with such a unique set of skills,” Saywell said in the press release. “There is great benefit to Mr. Walsh’s ability to provide senior leadership in a variety of disciplines such as finance, legal, privacy and labour relations.”
