Police in Nanaimo are investigating an attempted child luring incident at the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre.
The incident happened at about 8 p.m. Nov. 1 when a man approached two girls, age 10 and 9, in the parking lot and offered them candy to get in his vehicle.
The girls told police they were near the aquatic centre’s front doors when the car pulled up and the man asked them if they needed a ride and offered them candy. The girls reported the man to pool staff who called police.
The suspect is believed to be aboriginal, 40-50 years old and heavy set with short, dark hair. He might have been in the pool, accompanied by two small children, earlier that evening. The vehicle is silver and resembled a Ford Taurus.
