Nanaimo RCMP say they will be able to forward a report to Crown counsel related to possible charges following a coffee-throwing incident last month.
Police issued a press release today, Nov. 20, saying the investigation is continuing into the Oct. 14 incident at the McDonald’s at Terminal Park Mall.
The incident was captured in its entirety on a customer’s dash cam video, which showed a woman throwing a coffee at an employee in the drive-thru window and then walking away.

“This incident struck a nerve with many and the video of the incident was shared numerous times on social media,” said Const. Gary O’Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman, in the release, adding that tips from the general public poured in.
In the upcoming weeks, investigators expect to be forwarding their report for consideration to Crown counsel, the release noted, but police aren’t releasing further details yet of their investigation.
“The investigators would like to thank everyone who took the time to call or email with information on a possible suspect,” O’Brien said. “The information was extremely helpful as it allowed investigators to narrow the suspect pool and aggressively pursue the incident.”
