Police are looking into a possible abduction, assault and stabbing incident that occurred in south Nanaimo.

At approximately 2 a.m. on Dec. 27, Nanaimo RCMP say they were called out to rural property after receiving reports of an abduction and assault.

According to Nanaimo RCMP, the homeowner contacted police after finding a man tied up and injured on his property. The 25-year-old male victim was taken to hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries, which according to police were consistent with an assault.

Police also say that the 25-year-old indicated that during his alleged abduction, one of his assailants was stabbed.

A 30-year-old man checked into hospital at 3 a.m. on Dec. 27 seeking treatment for a “significant but non-life threatening” upper body stab wound, according to police, who say the man received treatment but refused to co-operate with officers. He was eventually released from hospital and taken into police custody.

“Investigators are attempting to connect the two incidents; however, at this time the investigation remains in the preliminary stages,” said Const. Gary O’Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman.
