Local Liberals have named their candidate for this year’s coming federal election.
Tim Tessier, a Nanaimo realtor with a background in marketing training and consulting was acclaimed as the candidate March 29 during a selection meeting at the grand hotel in Nanaimo.
Tessier said his focus will be on Nanaimo-Ladysmith’s weakened economy, crumbling infrastructure, and the systemic underfunding of Canada’s health care services.
“Addressing these factors properly would greatly reduce the everyday struggle for people who are underemployed, who can’t afford housing or higher education, or who can’t afford medications,” a media release announcing his selection states.
“Recent government has shifted resources away from average citizens to affluent ones, with policies such as income-splitting, which disproportionately favours higher income brackets.”
