Even the Bastion is showing its support for Pride Week.

The City of Nanaimo will light up the historical Hudson’s Bay Company fort in rainbow colours all week long as part of the municipality’s sponsorship of Nanaimo Pride.

Mayor Leonard Krog said at a Pride flag-raising ceremony Tuesday that city council unanimously proclaimed June 4-9 as Pride Week in Nanaimo, approved spending to repaint the four rainbow crosswalks at Bastion Street and Commercial Street, and approved the illumination of the Bastion in Pride colours during the festival.
