Beban Pool is shutting down for a month for maintenance.
According to the City of Nanaimo website, the pool is closed starting today, July 29, and will re-open on Sept. 4.
A social media post from the city noted that during the annual maintenance, Nanaimo Aquatic Centre will remain open and lifeguards are on duty at Westwood Lake every day between noon and 6 p.m. For more information, click here.
The city’s parks and rec department is hosting a Hawaiian Holidaze event at Westwood Lake park on Aug. 10 between 1-3 p.m. There will be Hawaiian-themed activities including limbo, hula dancing, necklace making and more.
“Bring your family down for a relaxing day in the sun and enjoy the activities we have planned,” said Taz Hartwick, city aquatics recreation coordinator, in a press release.
