Lake Cowichan man, Darryl Nanos’ voir dire appearance in the Duncan Provincial Courthouse on Dec. 12 in front of the honourable Judge J. Wood was adjourned until Jan. 13.

Nanos was charged with arson on an inhabited property, a crime that carries a maximum potential of lifetime behind bars.

The unit Nanos allegedly targeted was his own and was located at 68 Stanley Road. The property was set ablaze on Oct. 8, 2010.

Once the voir dire is carried out on Jan. 13, Nanos’ actual trial date is set for Feb. 9.

Luckily no one was injured in the inferno, however, other units nearby suffered smoke damage. The majority of Nanos’ house was completely gutted in the fire.

Following extensive restoration and repairs to the building, occupants have since returned to their respective units.

All residents of the building were subsequently asked to stay out of their homes while an insurance company arranged cleaning.
