Narcotic charge laid against former Comox Valley resident

Former Comox Valley resident Rong Thim has been charged with possession of a narcotic for the purpose of trafficking.

Former Comox Valley resident Rong Thim has been charged with possession of a narcotic for the purpose of trafficking.

When a man was searched Sept. 12 coming off the ferry at Departure Bay in Nanaimo, he possessed one kilogram of cocaine.  As a result of the arrest, a search warrant was executed at a residence, where police discovered more cocaine, a large quantity of cash and a marijuana grow operation licensed by Health Canada.

This grow operation was found to be 300 plants over the licensed limit.

Thim has been held in custody pending a court appearance.
