Nathorst and Shaw take seats in Greenwood byelection

Candidates Jim Nathorst and Gerry Shaw have been elected, with 157 and 142 votes respectively. Third candidate Rob Payne recieved 113 votes.

Greenwood officially has two new city councillors after a byelection on Saturday.

Candidates Jim Nathorst and Gerry Shaw have been elected, with 157 and 142 votes respectively. Third candidate Rob Payne recieved 113 votes.

The byeelction saw a higher than ususal turnout for the city, with 235 ballots cast. With 485 eligible voters, this is a voter turnout of 48.5 per cent.

The new councillors will be sworn in at a special meeting of council, date yet to be determined. Both councillors-elect are assuming terms that will conclude into 2018.
