An Armstrong resident who has worked in central Asia will be the quest speaker at the Okanagan-Shuswap NDP’s nominating convention.
Calvin White will present “Common Ground Half a Planet Away” at 2 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Odd Fellows Hall, 3005 Wood Ave. in Armstrong.
White has recently returned from an extended stay in Uzbekistan where he worked with Doctors Without Borders.
Doctors Without Borders has been treating patients with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis in the country since 2003.
White is a regular writer for “North of 50”, and several of his recent columns have reflected on his experiences working on the project.
