NDP party leader Jagmeet Singh will make his first trip to Port Alberni next week.
Singh is visiting at the invitation of Alberni District Secondary School’s Model UN Club. He will be addressing students on Tuesday, March 6 at 9:15 a.m. in the ADSS theatre. Limited seating will be available to members of the general public who are interested in attending, although seating priority will be given to students.
“I am very proud to introduce Jagmeet to students and other community members on his first visit to the Alberni Valley and to to give everybody a chance to hear about his amazing journey,” said Gord Johns, NDP MP for Courtenay-Alberni.
Singh was elected as NDP Leader by an overwhelming majority in October and is currently travelling across Canada, engaging with people of all walks of life. His desire is to hear directly about issues that are important to Canadians and their communities, according to a press release.
Because it is a school event, teachers and students ask members of the public to be respectful.
