NEIGHBOURS worked with the Terrace RCMP Crime Reduction Unit to shut down a crack house in the 4800 block of Haugland Ave. and Sunset Dr., reported police in a release today, Sept. 20.

A united community and police intervention proved to be too much and the residents of the house moved out, said police.

This is a clear example of how effective having the co-operation of the community is,says Const. James Lauriault of the crime reduction unit, also known as the street crew.

Numerous Crime Stoppers tips, describing the operations of a flop house also operating as an active crack house, led police to a residence in the 4800 block of Sunset Dr., said police.

Police had asked neighbours to report all suspicious occurrence and illegal activity, said police.

Lines of communication were opened with the owner of the residence and family and officers were also persistent in the enforcement of municipal bylaws, said police.
