Starting Nov. 18, Pacific Coastal Airlines will begin regularly scheduled non-stop service between Cranbrook and Kelowna.
A Beech 1900, 19-seat airplane will operate six days per week—excluding Saturday—and will depart Canadian Rockies International Airport in Cranbrook at 3:10 p.m. MDT and arrive at Kelowna International Airport at 3 p.m. PDT.
The service will be offered year-round.
“This is a great opportunity to bring the Kootenays together with the Okanagan,” said YLW airport director Sam Samaddar.
“Certainly from the healthcare prospective in terms of Kelowna being the regional hospital, it will be a route that is used.
“I also understand from the banking industry in the Kootenays that their headquarters are here in Kelowna, so there’s a lot of activity between the two regions.”
Pacific Coastal Airlines will be the eighth airline to service Kelowna’s airport. The company currently provides flights, charters and cargo service to more than 65 destinations throughout B.C.
“Not only does this new air service with Pacific Coastal Airlines provide better business and tourism access to both our regions, but this will also provide quick, easy transportation to our medical facilities and specialists that many from the Cranbrook area are already using,” said Kelowna Mayor Walter Gray.
