New Leaf's inaugural Kelowna flight took off today

New airline takes off from Kelowna

The inaugural flight for NewLeaf Travel Company from Kelowna International Airport was Monday.

Scheduled flights from Kelowna to Winnipeg, Regina and Saskatoon with same plane service to Hamilton are now available.

“NewLeaf opens Kelowna’s doors to travellers on a budget from all over the country,” said Sam Samaddar, YLWairport director. “It also brings new opportunity for leisure travellers to share in and experience all that the Okanagan has to offer.”

NewLeaf Travel Company uses an ultra low cost carrier approach to provide consumers with low prices. They offer one class of seating, an economy “slim line” seat in a dense configuration on a comfortable Boeing 737 aircraft.

As part of their low-cost model, NewLeaf  will enable passengers to customize their travel experience by purchasing, among other things, priority boarding, on-board drinks, snacks, carry-on and checked baggage.

“Our partnership with YLW and the new city pairings offers Canadians an opportunity to explore a beautiful region in the country—affordably,” said  Jim Young, NewLeaf’s president and CEO. “This is a step in the right direction for Canadian air travellers.”

The travel company’s principal partner for airline service is Kelowna’s own Flair Airlines Ltd. Flair is a Canadian-based airline with experienced crew and pilots that fly Boeing737-400 passenger jets. Flair has been in business since 2003 and has a strong track record of safety and service

Passengers can make reservations on NewLeaf Travel Company’s website at gonewleaf.ca. Telephone booking is also available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Central Time) at 204-888-BOOK.
