The banners at Saywell Park are beginning to look a bit ratty.

As such, the town’s elected officials are considering different options for replacements.

During the town’s Tuesday, October 4, meeting, the town’s superintendent of Public Works Nagi Rizk went over some options with mayor and council.

One option are seasonal banners, at a cost of $500 to $600 for Public Works to switch them out per season.

“I would like to see at least two sets,” councillor Tim McGonigle said.

There are 22 poles capable of housing banners between Saywell Park and the Point Ideal area.

Mayor Ross Forrest would like to see the banners tied into next year’s re-paving and re-working of South Shore road.

“If it’s suitable for banners, it might be best to hold up and do them down the main road,” he said.

There are still many other options being considered, including using Wilmer Gold photographs, local artwork, and other things.

The item is an ongoing discussion item during council meetings.

Discussions were instigated by councillor Jayne Ingram, who had noticed that the banners weren’t looking as fresh as before.
