The B.C. campground reservation system has been changed with more spaces added.
The target is 1,900 spaces over five years to respond to increased tourism and demand on BC Parks’ online reservation system. Reservations were extended to Skagit Valley, Mount Robson, Garibaldi Park and Golden Ears Park. Bookings opened in January this year, eliminating the mid-March “opening day” rush.
Other BCParks news: A new policy will prevent reselling and transferring reservations. Original permit holders must be present during the stay.
Reservation charges remain the same, with no change since the 2015 increase.
25 additional full-time park rangers will be added this year and more than 10,000 new BC Parks signature licence plates have been sold already.
In 2017 the first endowment to a new BC Parks Foundation will be made to “generate private revenue,” – according to a press release.
