As the snow melts and the vegetation greens up, residents are reminded to be bear aware.

So far there hasn’t been much bear activity at all, but by the third week in May, most of the bears should be out and about.

A new angling season began on April 1st and conservation officer Cam Hill would like to remind fishermen and women to purchase their 2011 fishing license.

They can be purchased from a variety of outlets including sporting goods stores, service stations and government agents.

However the majority of licenses are now being purchased online, a method that has become increasingly popular over the last three years.
