A familiar face is at the helm of a local heritage site.

Glen Taylor, a local businessman and a former Coldstream councillor, will start Monday as manager of O’Keefe Ranch.

“I look forward to my new career at O’Keefe” said Taylor.

“We can all take pride in our heritage. In 1875, cattle from O’Keefe Ranch were driven to soon-to-be Fort Calgary to start their beef industry.”

Taylor has operated a printing business for 32 years and besides serving on Coldstream council, he has been active with the Vernon Golf and Country Club.

He has also been a director of the B.C. Association of Festivals and Events and is a past chairperson of the Vernon Winter Carnival Society.

“We are pleased to attract someone with Glen’s skills,” said Larry Bell, ranch president.

The manager’s position became available when Catherine Lord was elected to Vernon council in November.

“We had 50 applications and we interviewed a number of very talented people,” said Bell.
