The Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP have a new media relations officer.
Const. Kelly Brett assumed the position on Monday. She takes over from Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy, who has been off on leave.
“Constable Brett has been a trusted and highly motivated member of the RCMP since 2007,” said Supt. Jim McNamara. “Over the past decade, she has served communities throughout B.C., including Squamish and Kelowna.”
Brett, raised in the Vernon area, brings with her 10 years of policing experience and has a strong background in media relations. She also has a degree in business administration.
“We’d like to thank the City of Vernon and all media outlets for their patience as we worked strategically to fill the media relations officer role with an RCMP member,” said McNamara. “We are confident she will provide the highest calibre service to our community.”
Brett will also be responsible for working alongside volunteer programs at the detachment. She’ll be working with the auxiliary constable program, North Okanagan Shuswap Crime Stoppers Society, Community Safety Office and the City of Vernon RCMP Volunteers.
