Two properties on Aye Road, long panned by locals as an “eyesore” may soon be gone, after council granted a new developer an extension to clean up the properties.
The developer, who recently bought properties at 6717 and 6723 Ayre Road, must first complete a remediation order from the Sooke District on the 6723 Ayre Rd. property, which carried over from the previous owner.
Currently, the developer is pending a demolition permit for the 6723 Ayre Rd. property, but asked council to provide an extension for remediating the property for May instead of April 28.
As such, council agreed to provide the developer with an extension to end of May to remediate the property.
The developer also put in a rezoning application for both properties, and is also waiting for tenants to vacate the 6717 property as well.
